The Lighthouse Keeper is a survival resource-management card game inspired by Lovecraftian monsters.
The Story So Far
The Lighthouse Keeper was originally a card game I designed on my own for a class in Fall 2022. With the help of 2 of my close friends, we have been crafting a longer and more polished video game in Unreal Engine based off my initial card game design.
Below is the final document for my board game version of The Lighthouse Keeper. This represents the first “month” or level of the game. Even when this was a solo project, my friends were there to playtest with me.
The picture below is a sketch of what may become the diegetic UI of the video game. In the final game, we are hoping to make use of surround sound, light animations, and music to create an immersive experience. This layout design took inspiration from other diegetic desks, such as in Inscryption.

Below are some different finish options our artist proposed for the “hunger” card. These images are the work of Bailey Smith.

Next up is implementing the first month in engine and getting it running without bugs – then, designing the other 4 months as well as the narrative beats.
